7. He Was Initially Hired By Cutler Beckett To Charm An Old Lady
Just imagining that Jack Sparrow was once an honest sailor working for a company is already a weird thought on its own. But the same fearless personality of Jack and his cunning and devious ways to defeat pirates without resorting to violence caught the attention of Cutler Beckett, who approached Jack for a job promotion.
Beckett initially offered Jack the chance to command the “Marlin” as captain, but Jack learned that it was a slave ship owned by the company, so he declined. Then Beckett decided to offer his ship instead, named the “Wicked Wench”, for a secret mission, to which Jack agreed. Jack had to sail the “Wicked Wench” on an expedition to discover the island of Kerma which was rumored to have treasures. But he had to charm an old lady that was believed to be a former resident of the mythical island to get the location first, which Jack did.
