8. World Of Warcraft Almost Lost Henry Cavill The Superman Role

We've all failed to answer the door or pick up the phone due to being in the middle of a deathmatch or an intense Zombies session, but if your Amazon delivery gets taken back to the post office or that telemarketer doesn't get the chance to sell you a toaster, it's not the end of the world.

But it certainly would've felt like the end of the world for poor Henry Cavill, had his failure to answer the phone resulted in him missing out on playing Superman, something that very nearly happened back during Man of Steel's development.

Cavill had reached the final stage of the audition process, and was essentially just waiting to pick up the phone and hear a yes, or a no. Being a massive gamer, he decided to keep himself occupied by hopping on World of Warcraft - a favourite of his - to make that wait go a little quicker.

While he was doing this, the phone rang - it was Man of Steel's director, Zack Snyder, and he had some good news to share. But since you can't really pause online games like WoW, Cavill actually missed the call. Whoops.

Fortunately, everything ended neatly when the actor called Snyder back, and accepted the part.
