Even though the DCEU didn't exist at the time, a live-action Wonder Woman film was in the works during the late 1990s, with Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman in the running to helm and produce. As you'd expect, the project has gone through a lot of changes since then, and one of the most intriguing proposals came during the DCEU's early days.

After the successful launch of Man of Steel, chatter about solo films based on other DC characters began to heat up, and Wonder Woman was one of the names being thrown around. While nothing was concrete at the time, Warner Bros wanted to get something going, and during this period, they were pitched an idea by Bridesmaids and The Heat director Paul Feig.

And the idea itself sounded... quite unusual - at least when compared to the Wonder Woman movie we did get. Feig described his vision to IGN back in 2013, and even mentioned that Batman and Superman would've been involved:

"The idea for Feig’s film would’ve involved a Wonder Woman who 'keeps hitting the glass ceiling' of the superhero world. Conceived as a lighter action-comedy, this Princess Diana of Themyscira has to contend with male heroes like Batman and Superman who are perhaps not as forward-thinking regarding their female counterpart as they should be."

Feig also added that the film would've been similar in tone to the Iron Man movies, which makes sense, considering his comedy background. But, obviously, this film never came to pass. Instead, Feig went on to make Ghostbusters 2016, and we're sure he's real chuffed about that.
