5. His Iconic Glove Shows Up In Evil Dead II
When future Spiderman helmer and cartoony horror mastermind Sam Raimi added a poster for 1977’s Wes Craven-directed The Hills Have Eyes to the set dressing of his classic early eighties video nasty The Evil Dead, odds are the director just wanted to leave in a subtle nod to one of his contemporaries whose work he admired.
If only the director knew what he had started, with this prompting Craven to include some footage from The Evil Dead in Freddy’s first onscreen outing, 1984’s blockbuster fantasy horror hit A Nightmare on Elm Street. When our hero Ash enters the tool shed wherein he locates the chainsaw that’ll soon come in handy (har har), look above his head for a brief cameo from Mr. Krueger’s instantly recognizable razor-clawed glove, a nice nod thrown in by Raimi as a gesture of respect to his fellow horror auteur.
