10 Minor MCU Moments That Pissed Everyone Off
5. Elon Musk's Cameo - Iron Man 2
Ah, remember the halcyon days of 2010 when Elon Musk seemed like a genuine force for good? An ambitious, impossibly driven tech magnate who, honestly, felt a bit like a real-life Tony Stark.
He even secured a cameo in Iron Man 2, showing up briefly in the film's early Monaco sequence as himself where he greets Tony Stark. This came about because Musk allowed the production to use his California SpaceX facility as Justin Hammer's (Sam Rockwell) factory.
Yet Musk's cameo in the film has rather aged like milk in recent years as Musk has increasingly evolved into a more controversial and divisive tech-bro figure, making unscientific and inflammatory statements, spreading misinformation about COVID-19, and even calling a key advisor in 2018's Thai cave rescue a "pedo guy."
And that's just the beginning.
Today it's tough not to cringe whenever you revisit Iron Man 2 and have to see Musk take center-stage, even if it's only for a whole 15 seconds.
All in all it's probably a blessing in disguise, then, that it's not one of the better MCU movies you'll want to rewatch again and again.
