10 Minor MCU Moments That Pissed Everyone Off

4. Korg Quips About Asgard's Destruction - Thor: Ragnarok

As hilarious as Thor: Ragnarok is, and as much as we love Korg (Taika Waititi), the film is occasionally guilty of overindulging in one-liners that end up undercutting the actual emotional import of a given scene.

Case in point, when Surtur (Clancy Brown) obliterates Asgard in the third act, it should be a genuinely shocking and sobering moment, that Thor's homeland has been destroyed.

But instead, it's basically played for laughs, as Korg says:

"The damage is not too bad. As long as the foundations are still strong, we can rebuild this place. It will become a haven for all peoples and aliens of the universe."

At that moment, the charred remains of Asgard then explode into a million fragments, at which point Korg says, "Now those foundations are gone. Sorry."

As funny as Waititi's delivery is here, it's a prime example of the MCU simply not letting a serious moment breathe. We weren't allowed to just see Thor mourn Asgard without it being punctuated by a joke.
