10 Mistakes Which Ruin Awesome Movie Scenes
2. Young Lily's Eyes Are The Wrong Colour - Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows - Part 2
Snape's (Alan Rickman) death in the final Harry Potter movie is one of the most emotional moments in the entire franchise, and before expiring he memorably tells Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), "You have your mother's eyes."
Harry then takes Snape's memories to the Pensieve where he learns the full truth of his life, that he loved Harry's mother Lily from a young age, and had been working with Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) to protect Harry the entire time.
It's a jaw-dropper of a scene, albeit one tainted by the fact that the Lily we see in the Pensieve flashbacks, played by Ellie Darcey-Alden, very clearly sports brown eyes rather than Daniel Radcliffe's own blue.
It's all the more bizarre considering that Geraldine Somerville, who plays an older Lily throughout the series, does indeed have blue eyes like Radcliffe. Could Darcey-Alden really not have been given blue contact lenses, or her eyes simply been re-tinted in post-production?
Curiously, Radcliffe himself was supposed to wear tinted contacts while shooting the movies to make his eyes green as per the source material, though this was quickly nixed when Radcliffe found them too painful to wear.
For her part, J.K. Rowling didn't care that Harry's eyes weren't green, but simply that the movies gave Harry and Lily the same coloured eyes.
Unsurprisingly, Potter fans en masse were rather unhappy that the filmmakers got such a vital detail wrong during one of the series' most crucial scenes.
