We all loved Guardians of the Galaxy for its Awesome Mix of great '70s tunes, but that wasn't the only aspect of the movie's music that was memorable.

There was also the score by Tyler Bates, which is nothing short of brilliant. A lot of the Marvel movies don't really have clear themes. Try to recall the theme from The Incredible Hulk, for example. But Guardians of the Galaxy actually has several memorable themes that can be hummed as we're leaving the theatre.

Just take a listen to this track, Black Tears. This is played towards the end of the film when Peter Quill grabs the stone. It starts off with the emotional theme we heard earlier during the death of Peter's mother in the opening scene. Then it slowly builds as all the members of the group hold hands in order to survive the stone's power together.

It builds and builds and then suddenly hits a climax as Peter says "You said it yourself, bitch. We're the Guardians of the Galaxy." The score here makes that moment so much more badass and iconic, and it feels like the defining moment when this group of people has finally become the guardians that we'll be seeing throughout the rest of the franchise. Bates's music is a perfect way of expressing that.
