The fact that a film now seen as arguably one of the biggest misfires of modern times was once being touted as a potential Oscar darling acts as one of the most notable reminders of big stars and an eye-catching subject sometimes still not being enough to guarantee critical buzz.

First being unveiled as an incoming project way back in 2010, everyone from Al Pacino to Joe Pesci were attached to the Gotti-mobile at one point or another, with the latter gangster legend even piling on 30-pounds to play a part before being recast and eventually suing Fiore Films over the whole drama.

But that still didn't stop John Travolta from going all out in the role of mobster John Gotti, with the Grease star even reportedly feeling that the film held the potential to be a serious contender at the Oscars, hence his passionate promoting of the flick.

Despite all this, the limp showing's most notable achievement was earning a 0% on Rotten Tomatoes and not even Travolta allegedly only joining social media as a way of drumming up support for his passion project could save it from becoming 2018's biggest dud.
