Despite many being sceptical ahead of the film's release, Fede Alvarez's Evil Dead reboot proved to be a brilliant, ooey-gooey slice of horror.

Rather than merely a group of pals and lovers heading out into the woods for some quality time and partying, this 2013 redo saw its central characters take out into the wild as a part of an attempt to help Mia (Jane Levy) overcome her drug problems.

Of course, demonic Naturom Demonto shenanigans unravel, with Mia being the sole survivor of the film as this Evil Dead offering ends with her stumbling out into the woods - quickly followed by a post-credits "Groovy!" from Bruce Campbell's Ashley J. Williams.

In an alternative ending, Mia makes her way to a road where she's picked up by a passer-by. With the camera in tight on her face, Levy's character opens her eyes wide in a way that suggests she's possessed. Likewise, this ending also has David - Mia's brother who sacrificed himself to save her in the theatrical cut - possessed by the evil spirts of the picture.

Incidentally, Alvarez has also made mention how one planned ending he had was for Mia to be taken over to an extent that her body literally exploded. Those plans were dashed when Sam Raimi stepped in and talked Fede out of it.
