10 More Best 'I'm Dead and I Know It' Moments In Apocalypse Horror Movies

3. Lynn - The Silence

Sunshine Cillian Murphy Death
Netflix

Netflix's The Silence may feel like a blatant knock-off of A Quiet Place - despite its source novel actually being released several years before that movie - but it at least had the decency to deliver a sacrificial death worthy of its not-inspiration.

In the climax, protagonist Ally (Kiernan Shipka) is abducted by a gang of tongueless cultists, at which point a grand save is made by her grandma Lynn (Kate Trotter).

Lynn intercepts the cultists and holds them down while she lets out a piercing scream, which immediately attracts the lethal pterosaur-like creatures known as "vesps" to their location.

The vesps make short work of both Lynn and the cultists, in turn allowing Ally to make her escape to safety.

It's always nice when the grandparent characters aren't just depicted as feeble, helpless meat-sacks in apocalypse movies, and Grammy Lynn straight-up went out like an O.G.
