10 More CGI Movie Shots You Never Noticed

3. Mics Were Digitally Erased - Les Misérables

Rather than record each and every one of his stars in a studio and throw a more polished version of the iconic tunes found in Les Misérables into his 2012 period musical, Tom Hooper opted to record his actors warbling live on set.

While the end results were a bit of a mixed bag musically, there's no denying that it definitely helped the various actors to perform and react with more freedom on the day of shooting, with the director himself telling The New York Times it was "a more natural way of doing it."

In order to capture those live sounds, though, the likes of Hugh Jackman, Russel Crowe, and more all had to walk around singing with radio mics on their persons.

Jean Valjean would have looked a little silly letting out an emotional rendition of "Bring Him Home" with a wire sticking out of his outfit. So, each and every actor had to have these little mics - and the earpieces they used to hear the song being played in real time - digitally removed in post-production (via SoundsOnSounds.com).

There you have it then, everything from "Empty Chairs and Empty Tables", to "Do You Hear The People Sing" secretly possessed a bit of CG assistance in this Misérables movie.
