9. All-Star Weekend

Not content with his acting and comedic accolades, Jamie Foxx decided to direct a feature-length movie back in 2012. The first theatrical film directed by the Collateral star was (or was supposed to be) a basketball rivalry comedy called All-Star Weekend.

Boasting an incredible cast, including Snoop Dog, DJ Khaled, Ken Jeong, Gerard Butler, Jeremy Piven, Benicio Del Toro, and Robert Downey Jr., things looked promising for Foxx's transition into directing.

Though the project was announced in 2012, All-Star Weekend took an eternity to take shape, so it wasn't set for release until 2018. Since the film was still in post-production at this time, it was delayed to early 2019. And then again in 2021. By the time 2022 came around, it was clear All-Star Weekend wasn't coming out any time soon (or ever).

The reason why? The potentially offensive humour. Foxx was worried his work would be deemed culturally insensitive, since Downey Jr. portrayed a Latino. According to Foxx, he cast the Iron Man star in the role to "break open the sensitive corners where people go back to laughing again".

Believing the gag would be taken the wrong way, Foxx reluctantly had All-Star Weekend shelved.
