10 More Deleted Movie Scenes That Explain Confusing Movie Moments
9. Wallace Keefe's Lead-Lined Wheelchair - Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice
The original theatrical release of Batman v Superman is a sloppy mess rife with unconvincing character motivations and straight-up nonsensical plot points.
Perhaps nothing in the film is more odd, though, than Superman's (Henry Cavill) bizarre inability to detect the bomb planted in Wallace Keefe's (Scoot McNairy) wheelchair during the Congressional hearing.
This is the X-ray vision-totting Man of Steel we're talking about, and in a movie that caught plenty of flak for its dour, mopey depiction of Superman, was there any image more counter to the source material than the superhero helplessly standing amid the fiery remains of Congress?
But a deleted scene included in the film's Ultimate Edition at least explains why he couldn't do anything. S.T.A.R. Labs scientist Jenet Klyburn (Jena Malone) - who was cut entirely out of the theatrical release - explains to Lois Lane (Amy Adams) that Keefe's wheelchair was lined with lead.
As even the most casual fan knows, Superman can't see through lead. It's a tidy enough explanation and one that clearly should've been included in the original cut.
But given how much most fans disliked the theatrical release, it's fair to say that many haven't felt inclined to give the Ultimate Edition a chance, which despite sewing up several nagging plot holes clocks in at an offputting three hours.
