Ending with one hell of a jaw-dropping turn of events, Rian Johnson's recent Knives Out follow-up Glass Onion saw none other than the Mona bloody Lisa being dramatically burned to a crisp.

The incinerating of such an iconic piece of art in the thick of Miles' life and mansion being wonderfully destroyed by Helen definitely helps close out Benoit Blanc's second cinematic investigation with an almighty bang.

However, there was actually an end credits scene that very nearly softened this almighty blow, according to Johnson himself.

This coda would've seen Blanc getting on the blower to a French-speaking figure, with his "ah, oui, oui, merci" paving the way for a shot of the real Mona Lisa being safely stored in an office within the Louvre.

Not wanting to "pull a punch", though, the director eventually decided to scrap this late reveal, claiming, "I like that the real painting gets destroyed in the movie."

Though it is worth adding that no real Mona Lisa's were harmed in the creation of this movie. Instead, the one used in the flick was created by "a very talented, local Belgrade artist", with the crew being forced to document themselves destroying it once they'd finished filming in order to ensure it didn't end up on the counterfeit market.
