10 More Disturbing Scenes Cut From Comic Book Movies

7. A Sickening Death Scene Was Cut - The Dark Knight Rises

Not long after plunging a blade into Batman during the climax of The Dark Knight Rises, Talia al Ghul hops into a tumbler and proceeds to speed away from the scene.

And it's here when the daughter of Ra's al Ghul decides to order her men to gun down a number of Gotham's finest as the GCPD collides with Bane's army on the city streets.

Among these unfortunate police officers is none other than Matthew Modine's Peter Foley, with Talia's order to "kill them all" being followed by a disturbing visual of the Deputy Commissioner dead on the ground.

If Christopher Nolan had decided to keep the full version of this death sequence, though, this trilogy ending picture would have actually ended up being given an NC-17 rating.

That's according to Modine himself, who noted in an appearance on the CinemaBlend ReelBlend podcast that the director felt the first version of his shocking death scene was too violent.

In that extended death, fans would have very much seen Foley being hit by the tumbler before his body would be sent flying through the air.

The sound of Modine's stunt double hitting the ground was described as "sickening" by the actor, and he even recalled glancing over at Nolan and seeing that his director's face had turned white in the wake of completing the horrendous moment.

Simply put, this deleted scene put the "dark" in this Dark Knight conclusion.
