What was originally Hugh Jackman's emotional goodbye to the character of Logan was already a somewhat distressing experience. This is the same film that contains the eventual death of both Professor X and Wolverine during its runtime.

However, things would have been even darker had James Mangold opted to leave one particular moment in the 2017 superhero drama.

When talking about a number of the movie's deleted scenes on the Logan Blu-ray (via THR), Mangold explained that the reason he left out an exchange which referenced the death of Jean Grey was that the entire thing was simply a bit too depressing.

As Logan, Xavier, and Laura chat with the Munson family after dinner, Charles notes how Wolverine's partner passed away. He'd then completely kill what was an otherwise hopeful moment within the house by telling the family that Logan murdered her.

And as Mangold would also add, not only would that bombshell have brought one of the only moments of pure happiness in the flick crashing down, it would have also made the Munson's seem a little odd for allowing these people to stay in their home.

It may have been powerful in isolation, but as part of the scene it was simply an unwanted downer.
