10 MORE Dumbest Decisions In Horror Movies

9. Making A Phone Call In The Open - Crawl

Big dumb monster movies are always going to have big dumb decisions in them, and Crawl absolutely fits that bill. The film sees Haley attempt to rescue her father from his basement as a category 5 hurricane hits, but the pair don't bank on finding a pack of aggressive alligators that then block their escape route and trap them in a claustrophobic spot behind the house's pipes. Instead of a rescue mission, Haley finds herself in the middle of a fight to survive against jaws, claws, and a dangerously rising water level. Oh my.

Now, considering how easily an alligator can rip a person up like wet tissue paper, you'd think that in Haley's situation, you'd minimise as much time as possible you spend in any place where one can turn you into fleshy human soup. However, when she decides to to try and pick up her dropped cell phone in the middle of the basement - which is a smart enough choice - Haley hangs around to make a phone call rather than getting the hell out of there and to somewhere safe.

The result? She gets perhaps the most deserved attack of the whole film as one mangles her leg and ends up crushing the phone before it's of any use anyway. How easy would it have been to just go back behind the pipes!?
