10 MORE Dumbest Decisions In Horror Movies
4. Attempting To Rescue The Perfectly Safe Dog - Dawn Of The Dead (2004)
Right, now hear me out, as it's going to sound rather callous at first - but if you're in a zombie apocalypse attempting to survive at any possible cost, then a dog is not your main priority.
And I can say that freely when in the context of the Dawn of the Dead remake, dogs aren't noticed or attacked by the horde of ravenous undead, and will survive without interference from pesky humans attempting to use them as couriers. In fact, they're probably better off without being messed with since there's an endless supply of bones to chew on and body parts to play fetch with, but I digress.
Chips is indeed a very good boy, and whilst the idea of using him to rescue stranded gun store Andy owner is noble, Nicole's freak out when Andy gets bitten and can't return Chips to her is particularly dumb behaviour. Grabbing a car and crashing it into the shop rather than acting out any sort of prepared plan, her actions spark a rescue mission that sees Tucker break his legs and the group's shopping mall safe house compromised, forcing them into a hasty escape plan.
Another five people are then killed in the ensuing scuffle. All for the sake of a dog that literally would have been fine either way.
