The Lion King is one of the most popular Disney movies of all time, and it feels that everyone at some point has been traumatised by the death of Mufasa. Who could watch poor little Simba try to revive his dad with a dry eye?

The death of the King did more than just break children's hearts the world over, it sent the Pride Lands into a downward spiral that resulted in Scar and his hyenas ruling over a dry and desolate place.

Simba running off and allowing Scar to ascend the throne would have caused all manner of problems, but why did it affect the weather? What possible explanation could there be for Scar's rule leading to a drought throughout his kingdom? The answer, according to this theory, may lie with the past Kings that ascended to the sky.

Simba speaks to his father in the clouds while away from home with Timon and Pumba, so does this mean that the clouds themselves quite literally followed the would-be King, thus leaving the Pride Lands with no possibility of rain? The moment Simba returns he battles Scar in the middle of a rain storm, which does feel incredibly telling. This has to be more than just a coincidence.
