Much like the previously mentioned Deborah Foreman, Jill Schoelen seemed to rise quickly through the horror genre before unexpectedly giving up her career at its peak.

Schoelen began her genre work in style, working with the legend himself, Wes Craven. The first of her seven horror turns was a supporting role in Craven's 1985 made-for-TV movie Chiller.

Two years later, Schoelen would form a final girl double act with Shelley Hack and face off against Terry O'Quinn in the cult classic slasher The Stepfather. This would immediately be followed by a trio of leading horror roles in 1989 beginning, with the ridiculous mutant snake flick Curse II: The Bite.

Schoelen would flex her "final girl" muscles again starring opposite Brad Pitt in the darkly comic slasher Cutting Class. This was quickly followed by the 1989 adaption of The Phantom of the Opera, opposite another legend, Robert Englund.

1991's Popcorn again saw her cast as the target of a homicidal serial killer, this time set against the backdrop of a film festival. Schoelen also added to her impressive co-star roster here, sharing the screen with Dee Wallace.

Jill's last genre role is without doubt her strongest; her absolutely harrowing turn in the criminally forgotten made-for-TV sequel When a Stranger Calls Back. Although no longer acting, Schoelen is still more than happy to embrace her scream queen legacy, often offering emotional thanks to fans.

Hi! The first thing you should know about me is that I'm a HUGE horror movie nut. A confirmed addict to the WhatCulture Horror YouTube channel I thought I'd try my luck on their writing team. I'm a wannabe author with one completed manuscript submitted to a few agents. Please cross your fingers for me! I am currently working on my second book. If you wanna talk horror or need any movie recommendations, I'm your man! Give me a follow on Instagram... since there doesn't seem to be a section for that in the "socials" tab @that_horror_nerd
