7. Wyrmwood: Road Of The Dead

Trust the Aussies to deliver an action horror with plenty of bite, and what's better is that it's essentially Mad Max with zombies. If that tease of a description doesn't whet your appetite, nothing will.

Kiah Roache-Turner made his feature film directorial debut with this action-packed slice of undead mayhem from Downunder. The movie follows a mechanic called Barry who, after losing his wife and daughter at the beginning of a zombie apocalypse, goes on the hunt for his missing sister. Trouble is, she's being held captive by merciless soldiers and there's also a mad scientist on the loose.

Something that helps Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead stand out from the packs of shuffling undead movies that all look alike is how insane it gets. The presence of a mad scientist is actually barely the tip of the iceberg, because there's also telepathy and zombie blood being used for gasoline. It's a wildly entertaining road trip that you just can't miss.
