10 More Hidden Gem Zombie Movies You've Probably Never Seen
2. Cockneys Vs Zombies
You should always approach any movie with 'vs' in the title with a truckload of scepticism and a very open mind if you're going to enjoy it. The quality of such movies can range from the really good (Freddy vs. Jason) to the astonishingly bad (Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever), thankfully Cockneys vs Zombies is in the upper echelons of this niche subgenre. Although that doesn't necessarily say a lot, the movie does exactly what it says on the tin with a grisly smile and a lot of bad taste laughs.
After a group of bank robbers finds themselves in the midst of a zombie outbreak in East End London, they must rush to the aid of their grandparents who are stuck fending for themselves in a retirement home, and escape the capital.
From a legendary roll call of homegrown actors (Honor Blackman, Richard Briers, Dudley Sutton) going to war with zombies, to Alan Ford swearing for Britain, to the appalling but humorous kicking of a zombie baby, everything you could ever want from a brash British zombie feature, Cockneys vs Zombies has it.
