Released in 2021, We Need to Do Something is a tight, taut psychological horror that, on a very basic level, centres on a family who end up trapped in their bathroom after a tornado.

This family consists of parents Robert and Diane, teenager Melissa, and youngster Bobby. That aforementioned tornado has caused a tree to block the family's only escape route, and thus tensions begin to mount amongst the family unit with each passing hour. Adding further to the stress of this situation, Robert is an alcoholic and becomes more and more short-tempered and abusive the longer he goes without a drop of booze.

With a venomous snake, a demonic dog, and general paranoia kicking in, it's eventually revealed that the events of We Need to Do Something - which also sees Bobby killed by the aforementioned snake - are a result of a botched spell Melissa and her girlfriend Amy cast.

By the final act, Robert becomes fully unhinged due to, amongst other things, sucking on cleaning wipes to drain the alcohol from them, and he intends to eat Bobby's corpse and kill his wife and daughter. It's at this point that Melissa is forced to bludgeon her old man to death in order to stop his murderous, insane intentions.
