10 More Horror Movie Jump Scares You’ll NEVER Forget

8. The Ring - What Is That FACE?!

When I was first getting into horror as a far too young lad, there was little scarier than The Ring. The concept was already terrifying: watch a cursed video tape that prophesies your death in seven days time, and wait it out until a horrific, drowned ghost girl called Samara crawls out of your TV and literally scares you to death.

We covered Samara crawling out the TV on the previous list, but there's actually a scarier, more unexpected jump scare that comes far earlier in the movie.

After the mysterious deaths of teens Becca and Katie in the intro, there are a lot of unanswered questions as to just what happened. Lead character and Katie's aunt, Rachel, is discussing the incident, when conversation switches to how the victims were found.

Talking about the state of the bodies, Katie's mother ominously says that she "saw her face", while the movie suddenly cuts to the body being found, and the horrific, mangled face of her daughter.

It's only on screen a second, but it's an image sure to be seared into your brain for years to come.
