10 More Horror Movie Reveals So Bad You Almost Walked Out

8. Fantasy Island

Reworking the Fantasy Island TV series - that ran from 1977 to 1984 - into a dark horror may sound silly, but Jeff Wadlow's sinister reimagining had potential. Although the show was a light-hearted drama, the "be careful what you wish for" premise always had horror vibes.

With that said, the 2020 reboot failed miserably to do anything innovative with the beloved property. The plot juggles too many storylines, so there's no time to develop any of them, and the rules of the fantasy island are established but constantly rewritten or flat-out contradicted, making it impossible to follow what's going on.

On top of that, every epiphany is laughable. At the halfway point, the characters discover the island's power stems from a magical glowing rock in a cave. That's it. That's the entire explanation.

The revelation that Melanie orchestrated the trip to punish the guests she blamed for the death of a guy she barely knew also falls flat. However, the film saves the biggest middle finger for last.

In the final scene, one of the characters, Brax, is revealed to be Tattoo, the assistant of Mr. Roarke in the original series. This twist has no foreshadowing whatsoever and comes across as a feeble attempt to tie the story to the source material, despite not making any sense.
