4. Ed Lays Out The Whole Plot - Shaun Of The Dead
Although Shaun of the Dead was a hilarious spin on the zombie subgenre, Edgar Wright's zomcom deserves a lot of credit for its masterful story structure.
After our titular hero (Simon Pegg) gets dumped, best friend Ed (Nick Frost) tries to cheer him up, saying "Have a Bloody Mary first thing, bite at the King's Head, couple at the Little Princesses, stagger back here (at the Winchester) for a shot."
Unbeknownst to first-time viewers, Ed has explained how the entire story is going to play out.
The first zombie they encounter is the checkout girl, Mary. After that, Shaun's stepfather Philip, aka The King gets a bite taken out of him. "The Little Princesses" references how Ed and Shaun will team up with Liz, Diane, and Barbara to fight the undead. The group impersonate zombies by staggering around, allowing them to get through town without incident. Sure enough, the film concludes with the gang returning to the Winchester, where Shaun uses the rifle to shoot the invading zombies.
Nick Frost is so casual with how he delivers this monologue, it's impossible to notice he's just spoilt the whole movie.
