10 More Horror Movie Twists That Were Hiding In Plain Sight
3. A Perfect Getaway
After getting hitched, Cliff and Cydney head to Hawaii, hoping to enjoy their honeymoon. But after hearing about a serial killing couple in the area, the newlyweds become increasingly paranoid. After running into several suspicious couples, Cliff and Cydney strongly consider getting the hell out of there for their own safety.
For most of the run-time, it seems like Cliff and Cydney are worried they're going to be hunted down and butchered. However, during the third act, it's revealed they've been the serial killers all along. The male lead, who's actually called Rocky, murdered the real Cliff and Cydney after their wedding, so he and his partner could assume their identity.
Even though this epiphany is jaw-dropping, the couple's true identity is heavily implied in the first scene. A Perfect Getaway opens with footage from Cliff and Cydney's wedding, though the couple's faces are never revealed throughout the prologue since it would give away the twist.
When the serial killers show pictures of Cliff and Cydney's wedding to passers-by, images of the bride and groom are nowhere to be seen, implying the leads aren't who they claim to be.
