3. John Kramer - Saw

Tobin Bell had it pretty easy in the first Saw film, didn't he?

He spends most of it either lying down or tucked up in bed. And he's considered one of the most iconic horror villains of all time!

Lucky bugger.

One of the reasons why Bell's character John Kramer has achieved such a status is because of the genius twist ending to Saw. Kramer, who has been lying "dead" on the floor of the prison room for the entire film, reveals himself to not only be alive, but also to be the mastermind behind Adam and Gordon's entrapment.

The Jigsaw Killer's plan worked to perfection; the police spent the entire time thinking that Zep was the man they wanted. In reality, his devious plot went off without a hitch, and the film ends with him leaving Adam in the room to die.

As warped as his motives were, Kramer wanted Adam and Gordon to suffer and suffer they did. Adam got trapped, Gordon lopped his own foot off, and Kramer escapes without a scratch on him.

Sure, he might get his neck sliced open in Saw III, but swings and roundabouts.
