10 MORE Horror Movie Villains Who Broke Their Own Rules

8. Death - The Final Destination

The Final Destination franchise has quite smartly been fairly vague about precisely what Death is capable of, though there are some undeniable inconsistencies.

For starters, the first film showed Death "covering its tracks" by making a pool of water recede after using it to kill Tod (Chad E. Donella) - a quirk that was subsequently ditched for all subsequent sequels.

By the fourth film - inaccurately entitled The Final Destination - the internal logic gets a whole lot messier, as near the end of the movie, protagonist Nick (Bobby Campo) has a second premonition where a series of explosions at the mall kill seemingly hundreds of people, including himself.

However, Nick uses this premonition to prevent the explosions, saving himself, Lori (Shantel VanSanten), and Janet (Haley Webb). But Nick also saved the many, many random people who died in the premonition - a fact the movie rather conveniently glosses over.

Instead, we race forward to the final scene, where Nick, Lori, and Janet are killed by Death. So, does that imply every single person who cheated death in the mall was killed before this? And if not, why not?

Some fans prefer to believe that the second premonition was simply Death messing with Nick, and all the randos who died in it were never actually marked for death at all, explaining why they didn't need to all die before the central trio did at the end.

But at this point, it's clear that looking for consistency in Death's rule set is just asking for trouble.
