10 MORE Horror Movie Villains Who Broke Their Own Rules

6. Candyman - Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh

Candyman is another horror franchise that made some significant changes to the established rules of its titular villain in the sequels.

Firstly, the second film, Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh, revealed that when Daniel Robitaille (Tony Todd) died, part of his soul was transferred into a mirror, which when destroyed at the end of the movie, kills Candyman.

This wasn't even remotely hinted at by the first film, and to go one further, Candyman 3: Day of the Dead rewrote the rulebook again, with Candyman now capable of being harmed by dealing damage to a portrait of him. Sure, why not?

You can either rather generously assume that these rules were simply unspoken in the first Candyman, or accept that Candyman's defeat conditions apparently come and go on a whim. Must be tough for a bad guy just trying to get a day's killin' done.
