10 MORE Horror Movie Villains Who Broke Their Own Rules

4. Leonard Marliston - Cherry Falls

Resident Evil The Final Chapter Red Queen

In the case of Cherry Falls, it's less that the killer betrays his own rules as much as he veers from the central characters' - and the audience's - very reasonable perception of them.

The movie is hinged around a killer who appears to be picking off only the virginal teenagers of a small Virginia town, prompting Cherry Falls' remaining virgins to meet up for a mass orgy in an attempt to save their lives.

The orgy kicks off just as it's revealed that the local high school principal has also been murdered, and if there were any lingering doubt about his sexual history, "virgin not" is carved on his head.

A few scenes later, it's revealed that the killer is English teacher Leonard Marliston (Jay Mohr), who has been killing people in revenge for his mother's gang rape 25 years earlier - a participant of whom was the principal - which led to his own conception.

Marliston has been killing virgins to deprive the town's elites of their "precious virginal children," but contrary to the virgins' belief, Marliston wasn't only targeting them - he was also quite keen to kill those who assaulted his mother a quarter-century earlier.
