In the polarising satirical horror film The Hunt, Athena Stone (Hilary Swank) is the leader of the central group of wealthy elites who kidnap working-class folk - or "deplorables," as they call them - and hunt them for kicks.

And as Athena's complacency left her assuming that said deplorables didn't pose much of a threat to her, she evidently got far more than she bargained for with gutsy captive Crystal (Betty Gilpin).

During their final confrontation a fight ensues, with each impaling the other with the blades of a food processor, before Crystal finally delivers the killing blow to Athena.

And to rub salt in the wound, as Athena bleeds out, she realises two crushing things: Crystal is a far more well-read person than her classicism let her realise, and she also mistook Crystal for somebody else entirely - another person named Crystal who made a social media post that offended her.

Crystal didn't just physically defeat Athena, she intellectually outmanoeuvred her too. What a thing for her to realise in her final moments of life.
