10 More Horror Movies That Had No Right To Be This Good

1. Terrifier 2

Though the first Terrifier proved an easy success on its mere $35,000 budget, critical and audience opinion was widely divided with many criticising its threadbare plot, rough dialogue, and underdeveloped characters, but praising its creative gore effects and David Howard Thornton's performance as Art the Clown.

Upfront expectations weren't exactly high for Terrifier 2 to be anything but more of the same, though once its 138-minute runtime was announced, there was genuine concern it'd turn out a horribly indulgent mess.

And while Terrifier 2 absolutely could've used some trimming, it is for the most part a tectonic improvement over the first, from the superior screenplay and performances to the extreme gore that's sure to nauseate even the most well-trained of bloodhounds.

Armed with just $250,000, filmmaker Damien Leone crafted a genuine slasher epic, and one which was rewarded with an impressive $15.7 million at the box office.

As such, Leone is currently in production on Terrifier 3, which is due to release next October.
