10 More Horror Movies That Had TWO Incredible Villains
4. Chris & Tina - Sightseers
Ben Wheatley's cult comedy-horror Sightseers does the rare thing of centering around two villain protagonists - a couple, Chris (Steve Oram) and Tina (Alice Lowe), who start murdering anyone who pisses them off while on a caravan holiday.
It begins with Chris carrying out the killings, but eventually Tina joins in, basically making them an unexpected, unintentional Bonnie and Clyde-esque pair, albeit shone through the decidedly more sardonic prism of Wheatley and Lowe's script.
Much of the credit has to go to Oram and Lowe, whose hot-cold chemistry and caustic performances make their increasingly depraved acts so impossible to look away from.
And then there's that gloriously unhinged ending, where they decide to kill themselves by jumping from a viaduct, only for Tina to let go of Chris' hand at the last minute, leaving him to fall to his demise solo, moments before the film cuts to black.
The beauty of Sightseers is that, like Michael Douglas' prickly protagonist in Falling Down, we sympathise with these aggrieved villains to an extent, even if their actions go way too far.
