3. The Yautja Alien - Predator
In Predator, Dutch's rescue team are on a reconnaissance mission in the jungle, unaware they're being pursued by an alien. Over time, the dreadlocked killing machine picks off every squad member, save for Dutch himself.
Challenging the Predator in combat, our cigar-chomping hero is easily overpowered by his towering opponent. Refusing to kill an unarmed man, the space-faring monster disarms himself to make their battle fair. As the Predator slowly and carefully removes his mask, the music quietens, amplifying the atmosphere and tension.
After the helmet clonks onto the trickling stream, viewers get a glimpse of the cosmic hunter's face... and, it's not pretty. Due to his scaly exterior, quilled cheeks, rage-fuelled eyes, visible gums, and four protruding jaws, the Predator is, in the words of Dutch, "one ugly mofo".
The Yautja warrior then emits a screeching howl, revealing his extendible mandibles, further emphasising this monstrous brute is not from our world.
What makes this sequence more magical is how it would've never come to be if the filmmakers stuck with the Predator's original design. Considering this terrifying creature originally resembled "a duck" according to Arnold Schwarzenegger, it's a blessing the creators completely overhauled the Predator's look.
