10 More Horror Movies You Constantly Have To Defend Loving
7. Seed Of Chucky (2004)
The delectably vile Chucky is a horror movie icon who really has no right to exist.
The concept of a killer doll is spooky, but has always come across as goofy and ridiculous in execution, something the Child's Play franchise leaned into as it tugged along. Still, even those who love the sillier side to this character have a thing or two to say about Seed of Chucky.
This movie is the fifth in the franchise and follows the titular doll as his kid (Glen) resurrects him and Tiffany from the dead. From there, they launch a deadly tirade on Hollywood. It's campy, ludicrous, and often called one of the worst Chucky movies. Yikes.
There is plenty wrong with the film, including the bizarre choice to have the progeny of two of cinema's deadliest murders be a weak-willed pacifist. Additionally, the over-reliance on absurdist comedy left a sour taste in many mouths.
However, while the film is far from perfect, it's still a pure delight. It's a raunchy and entertaining romp, thanks to its meta-humour and ridiculous character development. Sure, it's not one of Chucky's bests, but who cares? It's fun!
