5. How Can Arthur Get Tattoos? - Aquaman
The Plot Hole:
Given that we're shown early on that Arthur Curry's (Aquaman) hardened skin can't be penetrated by a knife, how exactly is his impervious flesh covered in tattoos? Shouldn't a tattoo needle do absolutely nothing to him?
In a movie about a humanoid civilisation that can exist underwater, it's clearly the most pressing logical issue.
The Solution:
This is actually an incredibly easy one - the movie also establishes that Arthur can be harmed by Atlantean steel, and so it's reasonable to assume that Arthur got his tats with Atlantean needles, right?
Even accepting that Arthur doesn't visit Atlantis until he's an adult, could he not have gotten some sweet tats from his lifelong mentor Nuidis Vulko (Willem Dafoe)?
Or if that's not good enough, some fans have suggested that Arthur's tattoos could be like birthmarks which just naturally occur on Atlantean skin, or even be scale-like markings.
Any one of these explanations works, basically.
