10 More Infuriating Movie Cliffhangers You Didn't Realise Had Answers

3. Ace Escaped The Wachootoo Tribe - Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls

As typically goofy as Jim Carrey's back catalogue of comedy movies is, with the Ace Ventura franchise being the goofiest, When Nature Calls still managed to pull off a fun cliffhanger ending that really did leave the fate of the titular pet detective up in the air when you think about it.

After helping the Wachootoo Tribe recover their sacred bat, Ace found himself on the run as the tribe discovered that he had sex with Wachati Princess who was to marry the Wachootoo Prince. The film ends with a freeze frame as Ace is being chased through the jungle by both tribes in what seems like an unwinnable situation.

Of course, Jim Carrey never appeared as the character again to confirm whether or not they caught up to him, but the question has been answered in Ace Ventura Jr. Pet Detective, the third movie in the franchise from 2009 that basically nobody saw.

Ace did escape the blood-thirsty tribes, made it back to Miami where he married Melissa, originally played by Courtney Cox, and had a son who went on to be the titular junior pet detective. Ace himself, however - in order to write Carrey's character out of the story - disappeared around the Bermuda Triangle when Junior was born and hadn't been seen since.
