6. Rachel and Louis Creed vs. Gage Creed (Pet Semetary)
There are some positives and negatives to the film adaption of Stephen Kings Pet Semetary. Most notably is the expanded role of Victor Pascow and his fantastic decaying makeup and the unnecessary exclusion of Norma Crandall. Overall though the movie hits the right notes in telling the plot about the destruction of an unassuming family by means of the husbands addiction to returning to the burial graveyard dubbed the Pet Semetary. The height of Louis Creeds insanity of course takes place after the tragic death of his baby son Gage and his desperate need to bring him back from the dead by burying the child in the cemetery. Since this is Stephen King you can safely assume that everything works out and there are absolutely no consequences for Louiss actions. Sunshine and butterflies, the end. Actually, when Gage does return from the dead he is no longer the sweet baby-faced boy seen earlier in the movie but now a demonic form that makes Miko Hughes resemble Chucky when he glares. Fighting a demon isnt unheard of in horror movies, but having to kill someone you love, especially when that someone was your precious child, that becomes much more devastating and unbalanced. Gages mother cant bring herself to hurt him and is unfortunately punished for harboring a long standing love for her dead son. The only one who could have done it was Judd Crandall which is exactly why Gage set out to kill him first. The book and movie end on a dark note, with Louis still not having learned his lesson and the powers of the Semetary having won over the man who has almost everyone he loves.
