10 MORE Movie Characters You Didn't Realise Actually Survived

1. Zurg - Lightyear

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3 High Evolutionary
Pixar

Lightyear is certainly a strange, messy beast of a movie that ultimately failed to land with mainstream audiences, in part due to confusion over what, exactly, it even was.

Pixar's marketing did a frankly terrible job of illustrating that the film wasn't set within the core Toy Story universe, but rather was itself the film on which the Buzz Lightyear toy is based.

As such, the movie is able to take some liberties with the existing Buzz Lightyear "lore" within Toy Story itself, such as revealing that this version of villain Zurg is in fact an older version of Buzz (James Brolin) from the original timeline.

It was a divisive twist for sure, and at film's end Zurg is seemingly obliterated when the Prime Buzz (Chris Evans) shoots the fuel he's holding, triggering a massive, presumably fatal explosion.

But Disney being Disney, one of the film's post-credits scenes cuts back to the expanse of space, where Zurg is drifting aimlessly as his eyes glow red, confirming his survival.

With Lightyear brutally flopping at the box office, though, don't ever expect to see this expanded upon.
