10 More Movie Heroes You Didn't Realise Probably Died Horrible Deaths

3. Martin Blank - Grosse Pointe Blank

Grosse Pointe Blank
Buena Vista Pictures

Having discovered his humanity and refound his inner self by the end of the nostalgic killer with a conscience comedy, Martin Blank overcomes two attempts to kill him, saves not only the girl but also her father and seemingly turns his back on his morally repugnant line of work to walk off into the sunset with the love of his life.

But Wait...

The reason Blank is almost killed on two separate occasions is not because of his clash with Dan Aykroyd - which is resolved when he drops a telly on his head and kills him - it's because of a botched job that led to heat from some Basque separatists - the same ones who sent Felix La PuBelle after him.

Why would the same separatists - a notoriously uncompromising band of folk - who are mad at the death of an innocent dog, simply give up because their first attempt failed? The response would be escalation, not descaling. And what of Martin's relationship with Debi?

He basically admits that he stood her up because he was feeling homicidal urges, saving her from himself, so what exactly is going to happen when he's retired from the killing game and his bloodlust (which he already feared would overcome his love of Debi) rises again?
