When it comes to the most wonderful time of the year, one of the best things is the slate of movies you can watch through December. Generally, these are uplifting and heartwarming, as the Grinch carves the roast beast, and Ebeneezer Scrooge has a change of heart.

Though it is undoubtedly a favourite around Christmas time, Love Actually isn't really that heartwarming. If you look into most of the stories told throughout, their endings aren't as happy as they seem, but Alan Rickman's Harry is on a different level completely. He has to be one of the most detestable characters in any Christmas movie, ever.

Throughout the film, Harry cheats on his wife, played by Emma Thompson, with his secretary. He even buys her some expensive jewelry while out with his wife, only to get his actual partner a cheap CD. He is the kind of villain that audiences love to see get their comeuppance, and surely Emma Thompson would deliver. It's a Christmas movie after all, and she needs a happy ending, right?

Even after she confronts him about the affair however, Harry faces absolutely no consequences. The two stay together in what is sure to be an unhappy marriage, disappointing audiences every single year.
