10 More Movie Moments IMPOSSIBLE To Watch The Same Way After This
1. Gene Hackman's Lines Are In His Book - Unforgiven
While actors are famed for their pretty damn impressive ability to pick up lines in next to no time at all, not every thespian is as keen on learning the words in their script by heart as others.
And joining stars such as Marlon Brando and Robert Downey Jr. in finding cheeky shortcuts around having to store a boatload of dialogue in their brains during a shoot, Gene Hackman also got in on the brilliant line-learning tricks whilst working on 1992's Unforgiven.
Whilst his Sheriff "Little" Bill Daggett takes the time to read "The Duck of Death" aloud, a quick glance at the book in question during a blink-and-you'll-miss-it peeling back of the pages reveals that Hackman had actually snuck his lines into the novel itself on the day of shooting.
With the film's star and director Clint Eastwood being known for his fondness of only using the first take as often as possible when getting a picture in the can, it's likely Hackman simply resorted to this tactic in a bid to nail the scene on the first time of asking.
And while Hackman's methods more than helped him deliver the scene-stealing goods during the Duck tale itself, it's definitely hard to unsee his genius little line prompt hiding in the pages once you spot it.
