10 More Movie Post-Credits Scenes That Went Absolutely Nowhere

2. Billy Batson Knows Superman - Shazam!

When Shazam! was released in 2019, it represented a shift in the tone of the DCEU from the dark and broody of Zack Snyder's vision, to something brighter and more fun. In spite of numerous references to the Justice League's heroes from Freddy, this new superhero and his new tone typically stayed in his own corner of the DCEU.

That is, with one exception. Earlier in the picture, Freddy claimed that he was friends with Shazam, and that the hero would be coming to school to have lunch with him. His bullies made fun of his claim, asking if Superman would be coming too.

In the post-credits scene, this joke is paid off as Billy, in his Shazam! form, walks in and proclaims what a great friend Freddy is, then to be joined by the Man of Steel himself. Well, from the neck down at least, as his face is never actually shown.

So, Shazam! knew Superman well enough that he would do him such a favour as this, and yet, their friendship was never explored further. He interacted with Wonder Woman in Fury of the Gods, but no other Justice League members. What was the point in establishing and teasing a relationship between Supes and Billy if it was never going to be explored any further?
