4. Crank - Fighting On The Side Of A Helicopter

Crank Statham
Lionsgate

In perhaps the biggest understatement in the history of action cinema, Jason Statham is one fearless son of a gun. Over the course of the star's hard-hitting career, he's frequently been spotted getting up close and personal with hordes of unfortunate goobers and even came dangerously close to death on the back of a truck refusing to stop and sending him crashing into the Black Sea whilst shooting The Expendables 3.

Yet, one of his most under-appreciated acts of insanity came in the form of an adrenaline-fuelled outbreak of fisticuffs in the closing stages of 2006's Crank. Oh, and said throw-down just so happened to go down whilst hanging out the side of a helicopter... 3,000 ft high in the air, no less.

Despite the stunt men on set stressing to the star that he most definitely did not need to commit to this ridiculously dangerous stunt, Statham was having none of it. Hilariously, when asked by folks how he trained for the nutty sequence depicting him dangling high above Los Angeles, Statham replied:

"How do you train for hanging out of a helicopter? You just go and do it."

Rather you than us, Jason, mate.
