10 More Movies Where The Reshoots Were Painfully Obvious
1. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
When William Fichtner was announced as the lead villain in 2014's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot, the movie was hit with whitewashing allegations and a massive fan backlash at the notion of a Caucasian Shredder.
Taking these sentiments on board, Fichtner was later revealed to be playing a different bad guy named Eric Sacks, alongside Tohoru Masamune's more authentic Shredder, but it's obvious this wasn't the original plan.
It came as no surprise when Fichtner confirmed that he was the iconic Turtles villain throughout the initial shoot, and the Asian actor was only added as the main antagonist, pulling strings from the shadows, in subsequent reshoots.
This was already abundantly clear, since the subplot about Sacks being Shredder's adopted son is clumsily handled, and it's obvious who the main bad guy is. Why would the movie introduce a new character as the primary antagonist, rather than enlist the most famous one from Turtles lore?
Shredder rwould later be recast for the sequel Out of the Shadows, with Brian Tee taking on the villain role, alongside the CGI abomination that was Krang, who looked almost as unconvincing as Ewan McGregor's Phantom Menace wig.
