While they may have initially come across as simply a rather rich couple who wanted to do something special for their wedding anniversary, the real reason the Kirbys wanted Dr. Alan Grant to accompany them on their trip to Isla Sorna in Jurassic Park III actually had nothing to do with their marriage.

It's later revealed that the very much divorced couple just wanted to find their son, Eric, who had gone missing whilst parasailing over the dino-stuffed island.

If you listen closely during the scene where the deceptive Kirby twosome trick Grant into guiding them on their upcoming tour of the island by promising to fund his research, though, a sign that these two parents were full of crap could be heard on the jukebox.

As the not all that wealthy Paul and Amanda talk about how much it would mean to them for the Jurassic Park survivor to join the pair on this journey, Randy Newman's "Big Hat, No Cattle" tune is accompanying the lie over dinner.

The lyrics in the song focus on lying and pretending to be something you're not, which is exactly what these two dishonest and desperate parents were doing for much of the Jurassic threequel.
