10 More Scrapped Movie Scenes Better Than What We Got

4. The Origin Of "To Infinity And Beyond" - Lightyear

It wouldn't be a Buzz Lightyear movie without the beloved space ranger's iconic catchphrase being unleashed a few times in the runtime. And sure enough, Lightyear came equipped with more than a few satisfying "to infinity and beyonds!"

However, what shockingly didn't make it into the flop of a Pixar film was the unexpected and rather humorous origin of that legendary phrase.

Cut out of the project due to pacing reasons, according to director Angus MacLane, the original first appearance of Izzy, the granddaughter of Buzz's best pal Alisha, would have involved the pair bickering over infinity.

Claiming that she was going to learn how to count "beyond" infinity, Buzz soon informs the youngster that this is mathematically impossible and a potentially never-ending "no, I'm not" "yes, you are" exchange kicks off.

It's a sweet back-and-forth, and a cute way to drop the well-known line into the tale. It's also definitely a stronger and more memorable introduction to the character of Izzy than her, admittedly still rather emotional, hologram appearance alongside her now-deceased grandma when Lightyear returns from one of his many hyperspace fuel tests.

Even MacLane classes it as one of his favourite scenes, but they just couldn't find a way to work this fun first interaction into the movie.
