10 More Scrapped Movie Scenes Better Than What We Got

3. Shaggy: The Stoner - Scooby-Doo

It's certainly suggested on a number of occasions in 2002's live-action Scooby-Doo adventure that the titular mutt's bestest pal Shaggy was quite the fan of... getting toasted.

However, as noted by the film's editor Kent Beyda when talking to JayBee & Milly (in association with smASH's Ashton Hardy) on YouTube, this was hinted at in a far more hilarious way in James Gunn's original script.

There was one notably rated-R gag that was set to go down when the film reunites the audience with Scoob and Shaggy inside of the smoking Mystery Machine during the first ten minutes, with the camera originally zooming in on a sign that said "pot $5" before panning down to a flower pot.

Inevitably, Beyda recalled how the team wasn't quite able to sneak that one into the finished cut of a PG picture.

But the film still boasted everything from the "Pass the Dutchie" song playing in that aforementioned Mystery Machine moment, to Shaggy noting how "Mary Jane" was, like, his favourite name. So, it's a shame this cheeky pot reference wasn't able to find a way to wander into the Scooby story, too.
